On Friday, July 3,Gideon Moi unveiled a new team to boost the party’s face across the country as 2022 elections near.Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio will chair the team.Committee members are Elizabeth Kimkung (vice-chairman), nominated Senator Abshiro Halake, party Secretary-General Nick Salat.
The team is expected to take key management decisions on party affairs, such as articulation of party policies and nationwide grassroots mobilisation.
The party is set to accommodate the disadvantaged groups such as the youth, women and minority groups,a statement from the National Executive Committee read.
In a statement signed by Poghisio read that Kanu national chairman had constituted the party’s standing committee whose centre mandate will be to oversee the management of party affairs henceforth. This decision was informed by the party’s resolve to embark on revitalising its countrywide structures through grassroots engagement with the people.
“As we enter this crucial phase as a party, we want to reaffirm to our members and Kenyans at large that we will roll out a comprehensive plan of activities and outreach programmes that will shape our national political discourse,” the party said.
The independence party recently signed a coalition agreement with the ruling Jubilee party, this is an indication that the party is in full flight mode ahead of 2022 generation, this post election agreement means that Kanu will support President Kenyatta inside and outside the parliament.
