PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA’S POSITION IS TO SAVE WAIGURU, KANG’ATTA TELLS SENATORS
Senate Majority Whip Senator Irung’u Kang’ata has sent a warning to nominated senators urging them to vote in favour of embattled Kirinyagah governor Anne Waiguru.
According to 3 Jubilee nominated Senators, they have this evening received a notification that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s position is to save Governor Waiguru from her impeachment on grounds of corruption and abuse of office.
“Hi Mheshimiwa, this is Chief Whip. On Tuesday during Waiguru impeachment process vote you need to come and vote for President position and support committee option” the message reads.
The notice shows that the president is against the impeachment of the governor who is being accused of misappropriating public funds.
Waiguru’s impeachment comes as a litmus test to President Uhuru’s commitment to the fight against graft.
However, the notice by Senator Kang’ata indicates that the president may be hellbent his fight against corruption in the country.
The Senators will on Monday decide through a vote on the impeachment procedure of Governor Waiguru in the house.
